A Journey of Self-Discovery

One night beneath the starry sky so vast,
I sat, cold breeze touching, memories past.
Reflecting on battles fought and pain endured,
Wondering if those struggles were ever assured.

Unsettled, I pondered this strange dismay,
Things I claimed mine were slipping away.
Not even myself could I truly claim,
Why did we fight? What was the aim?

In the quiet, beneath the cosmic dome,
I felt a strange unease in this borrowed home.
Those close to me, for their reasons stayed,
Reality dawned, and illusions swayed.

Overwhelmed by truth and the weight of the past,
I saw clearly, those bonds couldn't last.
The darkness embraced, what was the gain?
Why did we suffer, endure all this pain?

Gazing at the stars, distant and cold,
Their silent stories to me were told.
Understanding dawned, a profound release,
The battles we fought brought no peace.

The stars my witness, the breeze my guide,
I realised in this vast, empty tide,
The worth of the wars we waged was naught,
A fleeting shadow, a lesson taught.
